چکیده
Case presentation: Comparative genomic hybridization based on microarrays (array CGH) is a reality in clinical practice the neuropediatric population. It allows high-resolution assessment of DNA copy number changes associated with chromosomal abnormalities. Objective: To highlight importance using technique investigation patients diverse phenotypes. Methods: Series case studies.

P-243: Prenatal Diagnosis Using Array CGH: Case Presentation
Background: Karyotype analysis has been the standard and reliable procedure for prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis since the 1970s. However, the major limitation remains requirement for cell culture, resulting in a delay of as much as 14 days to get the test results.CGH array technology has proven to be useful in detecting causative genomic imbalances or genetic mutations in as many as 15% of child...
متن کاملThe diverse genetic landscape of neurodevelopmental disorders.
Advances in genetic tools and sequencing technology in the past few years have vastly expanded our understanding of the genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders. Recent high-throughput sequencing analyses of structural brain malformations, cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders, and localized cortical dysplasias have uncovered a diverse genetic landscape beyond classic Mendelian patterns of i...
متن کاملEvaluation of calling algorithms for array-CGH
Copy number variation (CNV) detection has become an integral part many of genetic studies and new technologies promise to revolutionize our ability to detect and link them to disease. However, recent studies highlight discrepancies in the genome wide CNV profile when measured by different technologies and even by the same technology. Furthermore, the change point algorithms used to call CNVs ca...
متن کاملPediatric gliomas as neurodevelopmental disorders.
Brain tumors represent the most common solid tumor of childhood, with gliomas comprising the largest fraction of these cancers. Several features distinguish them from their adult counterparts, including their natural history, causative genetic mutations, and brain locations. These unique properties suggest that the cellular and molecular etiologies that underlie their development and maintenanc...
متن کاملWilliams-Beuren Syndrome: A Case Confirmed by Array-CGH Method
Williams-Beuren Syndrome (WBS) is a rare genetic disorder. The first cases of WBS were described by Williams et al. in 1961 and Beuren et al. in 1962 independently (1, 2). Williams reported on a group of children with supraval-vular aortic stenosis (SVAS), dysmorphic facies and mental retardation. Beuren presented a similar syndrome with the additional features of peripheral pulmonary stenosis ...
